Shoalwater, WA (near Rockingham)

This restaurant in Shoalwater, WA, about 45 minutes from Perth, has a cheerful Mexican themed decor inside and an outdoor seating area as well. Some friends and I split a pitcher of pina coladas which was a generous serve for the price ($45) and strong but good. Unfortunately, the meals took at least an hour to arrive and when we inquired about it our waiter looked quite clueless and made no apologies. When it did finally arrive though the food was fresh and plentiful and no one was disappointed. I had the chimichanga, which is sort of a deep-fried chicken burrito which came with salsa and mexican rice. It was thick and tasty, filled with a generous amount of shredded chicken breast. Other friends had the chicken quesadillas -- chicken, capsicum, and onion sizzling on a hot iron dish accompanied by flour tortillas, and a plate filled with black beans, 3 kinds of salsa, and a yummy guacamole. And another friend had the tostada bonita, which consisted of a soft taco layered with black beans, chicken, salads, and salsa. We all walked away full and happy for the most part. Hopefully service will be quicker next time but I would be happy to try again. I'd rate it a solid 3 1/2 out of 5.
