A History of Violence

Film & Movie Reviews

Now showing

This movie starts violently and ends violently. It follows the story of Tom Stalls, played by Aragorn from the movie 'Lord of the Rings', and he will probably will be ever known for his role in the movie. In this movie he plays an ex-mobster, with a lot more wrinkles and with much shorter hair. Here, he starts a new life as a caring husband and father in a small town. He runs a coffee shop. His transformation to a normal life is almost made except he uses his past skills in firearms to save his friends and ends up on national television. His enemies from the mob start the chase. Even his brother wants him killed.

This movie shows life in a small town, how your past catches up to you, and the danger of firearm-carrying sociopaths travelling through the country.

The best part would be the son standing up to the bullies, but throughout the movie there is high drama and action. Don't forget the sex and violence. The ending seems incomplete but it isn't unique in a lot of movies where you wanted to know what happened next.

It is a movie you will definitely watch more than once. But it would be recommended for people over the drinking age.
