The World's Fastest Indian

The World's Fastest Indian
Film & Movie Reviews

with Anthony Hopkins

Reading the title, you would probably think it's about Anthony Hopkins dressing up as an Indian and going for a record-breaking run.
But it's actually about a well-known personality (at least in New Zealand), Burt Munro, who rode his motorcycle, the Indian, in a record-breaking land speed record in the late 60's on the Bonneville Salt Flats. What is amazing is that his bike is from the 20's, his other equipment, including safety gear is rudimentary and he is was in his 60's and had a heart condition when he did it.
The film covers his wacky relationship with his neighbours, but still holds reverence among them, his travels to Hollyweird (Hollywood) from New Zealand and finally to his world breaking speed record.
Burt is one hell of a character and the things he does will make you laugh or shake your head in disbelief.
It is a great film and Anthony Hopkins does a great job.
