Shopping Tips
Shopping Tips
The one thing I have always been told when I have gone shopping is to not shop hungry or thirsty because you will tend to my more than intended!

Another tip is to write a meal plan for the week including breakfasts, lunches, dinners, snacks and desserts so you know exactly what you have to buy and you don't need to guess.

Write a list of what you need and stick to a certain budget. Don't buy anything other than what is on the list.

The most expensive things in a shop are usually at eye level...look above or below for the cheaper brands.

Watch out for the obvious traps!!! Tea and coffee are usually put with biscuits in the same aisle. This is to trap you into thinking you need to get biscuits!!!

Also the homebrand stuff is usually just as good as the brands with famous labels. Infact most of the time it's those companies with the famous labels that have just stuck a homebrand sticker on the product and called it something else.

When buying canned vegetables shake the can to check to see how much water is in them. If it sounds like lots of water put it back and choose one that doesn't have much water sound at all.

I hope this helps...I'll post more when I think of them!!!

I buy "reduced to clear stock quite often; meat can be cooked and/or frozen straight away, fruit and vegies can be made into jams, pickles, etc, or frozen for later use. It's a great way to buy quality produce at reduced prices.
