For 5 months, I battled an unholy war against heat rash , it came up in welts anywhere & anytime on me . I tried everything, nothing gave relief . Being over 40 and living in Queensland , I figured my body had finally just had enough of the hot weather . I was doomed to suffer from heat rash forever .
Apart from this, about 6 weeks ago I woke up to find I had been bitten by something. My lip had swelled & continued to do so throughout the morning, slowly subsiding near lunchtime. Still, I went to the Drs to see what he thought. He agreed it was a bite & nothing much could be done.
over the following weeks, i had 5 such 'bites' all resulting in swelling to the lips or neck. I sprayed everything & everywhere at home to rid us of the 'biter' to no avail.
After the last one, I decided to return to the Dr , but first I searched the web for clues to swelling of the lip. At this stage I had not related it to the earlier & recurring rash at all.
To make an already long story shorter here's the link & my Dr now agreees even though he wasnt aware of this beforehand.

The first ladies symptoms are identical to mine & the information given about the uses & effects are astounding & shameful .
What do others think?

I think its disgusting that we have these additives in our foods. Some we have here are banned in other countries. I agree we all need to get smarter! Do your homework... our children are eating so many additives and preservatives. We have a generation of out of control, bad behaved kids.. is it any wonder? I have seen a remarkable change in my 4 girls since checking the labels... you would be surprised at the amount of msg (621) is in chips, noodles etc....
One cheap food chain in particular ( not sure if im allowed to say) buys in A LOT of food with these nasties in them. I now refuse to comprimise mine and my childrens health just to save a few bucks.
That website you have found is excellant it gives explinations as to what actually are eating.
People should go to their cupboards and read the labels.

All the best in the future... im just glad you found out what was wrong...

Kind regards,

Cheekypiece Very Happy

Thanks Cheeky piece. And I agree, I think many of the additives have spawned a generation of troubled kids & teenagers. Why don't people look back & realise the earlier generations actually had better health in many respects?
I doubt in 40 years time there will be as many people celebrating their 100th birthday as there are these days. (But back to the subject , lol )

Wgat worries me more is reading that there really is no way to alert the general public to this ; there is no Government agency to complain to and the best we can do is post it on every forum we have access to & call ACA ! Apparently ACA did an article on this additive in 2003 & then again in 2005. Pity I didnt take any notice of it then ! Sad
Here's a link to those articles for anyone interested :

Thank you for the extra info.. its a shame nothing can be done. I actually went to one of Sue Dengates seminars ( fedupwithfoodadditives web site )in Newcaste. It was extremely informative. For those people who are still sceptical and you dont believe half of what she says.. what about the rest? we owe it to ourselves and our children to do the research!! I can tell when my kids have had something they shouldnt have... the reactions vary from irritability through to black circles under their eyes. One of my daughters actually ends up lashing out and crying uncontrolably for about 2 hours... fortunately she now realises this is not the person she really is and avoids the foods and additives that affect her..

Sue and her husband are working very hard to change things. I just wish what they promote was more widely known.

Thanks for that info bigshebanger. I was aware of it, but I .. I ... slipped out of my healthy eating habits for a while. I'll certainly be paying more attention to what I feed my family and myself again.

Also there is the concern of 282 in bread products. This preservative is know to cause hyperactivity in both adult and children. I refuse to buy supermarket bread, and will only buy it from the bakery where they suposedly don't use preservatives. I notice a huge difference in my kids when we are at someone elses house for lunch and they are served 'other' bread.

Hi and thanks for this information, While I dont have any of the symptoms who is to stay I wont get any in the future and I may have had some (mildly) and not even realised.

It makes you think about whats in "food" these days and its an incentive to turn your back on snack/ convenience foods and make alternatives.

thanks Smile
